Hurricane Florence Updates
City Leaders and Department heads met on Monday morning to discuss before, during and after the fact plans of action for hurricane Florence. As soon as we have information that needs to be passed on to Loris residents we will post to social media and the City website. City crews have been out this week preparing for the storm and will continue to be out until it becomes unsafe. We are securing resources that will be needed during and after the storm and will also make that information available as soon as it becomes available to us.
We are continuously being updated and monitoring the storm.
Check back often as we will send out updates as soon as they are available.
At the present time the storm is a category 4 hurricane tracking north of our location and we are still inside the cone of uncertainty.
Horry County moved to an OPCON 2 at noon on Monday. All officials are in continuous discussion with state and local officials and will continue to monitor the situation closely. For all emergencies be sure to dial 911.
Waste update from Jordan Waste:
Waste pickup will be operating as scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday. We will have to see what the rest of the week holds with this storm. If they close down the landfill, we will have to shutdown until we can empty the trucks.
As of now City offices will open at regular time on Wednesday, September 12th and close at noon.
City Leaders and Department heads will be making several decisions in regards to hurricane Florence in the upcoming days.
