Wednesday Morning Hurricane Update

Wednesday Morning Update:
City officials met again this morning and joined in via phone conference with Horry County EOC to discuss upcoming plans with hurricane Dorian approaching.
City offices will close to the public at noon today, September 4th, however phone lines will remain open until around 5 PM. At noon today, offices will be closed until further notice.
Our EOC will be fully staffed and operational beginning no later than 7AM tomorrow morning, September 5th. We pre...viously scheduled to become operational at 6PM today, but the slow movement of hurricane Dorian prompted this change in schedule.
Reminder: The Public Information Phone System through the South Carolina Emergency Management Division is open 24 hours to answer any hurricane related questions. That number is 1-866-246-0133.
The number to the Loris EOC will remain as the main City number 843-756-4004. 843-756-4000 will also be open for calls. Remember as always, if you have an emergency, please be sure to dial 911.
As of now we expect to see impacts starting to arrive in our area later this evening and early on Thursday morning. These effects can range from tropical force winds and rain to hurricane strength winds and flooding. Now is the time to be prepared. Pray for the best, but please be prepared for the worst.
No curfew has been issued at this time, but be prepared that one may go into effect on Thursday night depending on the effects of Dorian as she comes closer to South Carolina shores. If a curfew is put into place, a loud siren will go off at the Public Safety building for approximately 60 seconds.
