The final draft of the Comprehensive Plan 2040 is slated for formal consideration by the City of Loris Planning Commission at its meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. at the Loris City Hall (Council Chambers), located at 4101 Walnut Street, Loris.
The Comprehensive Plan 2040 will provide land use recommendations, along with capital project and policy recommendations, to achieve the City’s vision through the year 2040.
The Comprehensive Plan 2040 looks at the City’s assets and challenges and identifies strategies to help achieve long-term sustainable growth and development for the City of Loris over the next 20 years. The Comprehensive Plan 2040 vision is based on public input gathered throughout the planning process. After months of study, analysis, and additional public input at the 2023 Future Land Use Workshop, Comprehensive Plan 2040 identified a preferred path to shape growth in the future. Principal goals of the plan include the following:
- To prioritize the provision of adequate infrastructure and conservation of the City’s unique communities, cultural and natural resources, and quality of life;
- To enhance collaboration and impact assessments during the development review process;
- To create activity centers and hamlets that are strategically located where infrastructure capacity exists, which are contextually compatible with the existing community.
